Lexalytics, Inc., a software and services company specializing in text and sentiment analysis, announced today it has released Salience 4.3. This latest release includes a new opinion mining feature which indicates whether an opinion is being formed between two entities contained within a document. Salience 4.3 also allows for query-defined entities helping organizations to extract people, places and companies from unstructured text with more precision. With an increase in information from unique sources such as blogs, Twitter and other social networking providers, companies are striving to analyze and understand the information contained in the text. Salience 4.3 will improve and increase the amount of information that can be added to the text analytics process. The addition of opinion mining in Salience 4.3 enhances the analysis capabilities and allows for discovery and recognition of proponents and opponents of brands and companies. It identifies if content by one entity, about another entity, can be classified as an opinion. A query-based entity supplements the Salience 4 entity extraction process by adding a query match on certain combinations of words. For example, a query-defined entity created for Senator Udall would include a name (Senator Udall) and also a specific location mentioned in the text (New Mexico or Colorado) to determine if the entity is Senator Tom Udall (D-NM) or Senator Mark Udall (D-CO). This extraction method allows for robust language queries to make an absolute determination about an entity. Salience 4.3 will also provide functionality to tag documents for categorization straight from the Salience engine without needing any additional software or service. All of these enhancements add to the value already provided by Salience 4 for entity and theme extraction. “We are most excited about Lexalytics’ query-based entities which will assist us in identifying and extracting entities from a variety of content sources,” said David Seuss, CEO, Northern Light. “We have been successful with model-based entities and our own CDLs (customer defined lists) but query-based extraction will move us to the next level of entity recognition.” Contact Lexalytics at info(at)lexalytics(dot)com to set up a free evaluation.
