Semantria for Mac / Quickstart

Setup

1 First, you'll need a Semantria account

If you're already a Semantria user, you can proceed to the second step. If not, get in touch to request a full demo and free trial.

Get a FREE trial

During the registration process, you will be asked to provide a username and a password. Make sure you note them down as you will need them to complete the setup of Semantria for Mac on your computer.

2 Download Semantria for Mac

System requirements: Mac OS X 10.10 or newer

The file is named SemantriaMac.dmg and will be downloaded to your default download folder (typically ~/Downloads).

3 Install the application

  1. Open SemantriaMac.dmg
  2. Drag the application icon in the Applications folder
  3. Semantria for Mac is now installed on your Mac!

4 Run the app and enter your credentials

  1. Open Semantria for Mac from your Applications folder
  2. A Semantria sign-in window will open
  3. Enter the username and password you provided during the signup process (or your existing credentials)

Analyzing content with Semantria for Mac

  1. Have an Excel file of your data or a folder of simpletext files ready for analysis. Or, you can use our sample data.

  2. In the app main window, click on [New Analysis] and select either an Excel file or a folder with plain text files in it (you can also drag'n drop your content on the window)

  3. The analysis settings window will open:
    • Select the configuration that is best suited for your content
    • For Excel workbooks: Specify the sheet and column you want to analyze. Notice in the example we analyze the review text in our sample file's column H, and specify column A for the ID.
    • Specify the type of output for results and if you want it output into the same Excel workbook as the source.

  4. Click the [Analyze] button
  5. Your content will be sent for processing on the Semantria server
  6. When the job status changes from ANALYZING to COMPLETED, you can double-click on the row or click on the icon to get to the results

  7. If your output was to an Excel spreadsheet, you'll see new sheets such as "Documents", "Entities", "Themes", "Auto categories", "User categories", and "Queries"

  8. You can now use the native Excel charts and graphs to help visualize the results, or export into a visualization tool such as Tableau.
