Lexalytics Named 2008 MITX Technology Awards Finalist

Lexalytics, Inc., a software and services company specializing in text analysis and social media monitoring (SMM), today announced it has been named a finalist for the 5th Annual MITX Technology Awards. The MITX What’s Next Forum & Technology Awards recognize innovative technologies developed in the New England area, as well as the individuals and organizations responsible for driving these advancements. The Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange (MITX) is the country’s leading association bringing together digital marketing, media and technology professionals to engage in what’s next for the web and how it impacts the marketing and business worlds.
Lexalytics technology provides the insight and measurement capabilities needed by organizations to discover, react, and respond to market biases or opinions. At the core of Lexalytics’ enterprise text analytics solution is the Salience Engine. This software application provides users the ability to extract important metadata from in-house content sources or online sources such as blogs and RSS feeds. Unlike other companies offering reputation management or text analytics at the document level, Lexalytics offers sentiment analysis at the entity level. This technology enables the user to determine the positive or negative tone about the important elements in a document, including people, products, companies, and user-defined entities. This software is provided as an out-of-the box solution and requires little manual editing to be up and working in minutes.
“Salience Engine finally provides companies a solution to not only decipher what is being said about their products and brands, but also determine the positive or negative tone, or sentiment, about their organization so they can react quickly and appropriately,” said Jeff Catlin, CEO, Lexalytics. “We are honored to be included alongside some of New England’s best and brightest as driving business forward with truly innovative, relevant technology.”
“In its fifth year, the MITX Technology Awards have attracted some of the most distinguished technological innovations that the region has to offer,” said Kiki Mills, executive director of MITX. “It is this tremendous interest that enables our organization to accomplish its mission of uniting the brightest minds in the digital marketing, media and technology community and honoring their outstanding achievement.”
Lexalytics will be recognized with the other finalists in the category of “Analytics & Business Intelligence” at an awards ceremony attended by the region’s top technology and business professionals. Winners will be announced at the ceremony at the Royal Sonesta Hotel on Tuesday, June 3, 2008. This year’s keynote speaker and special honoree is Dr. Amar Bose, Chairman & Founder of Bose Corporation.
The ceremony will be preceded by the What’s Next Forum. The topic, “Is Advertising the Model of the Future?”, will be a forward-looking discussion on whether online advertising is the winning model of the future for more than just content. The MITX What’s Next Forum & Technology Awards are sponsored by Backbone Media, DLA Piper, Invest Northern Ireland, LEWIS PR, Oracle and Technology Review.
