Twitter, Meet Caitlyn

Jenner Blog Photo good This week I ran an analysis for VentureBeat’s Barry Levine on Twitter’s response to Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair debut. To do this we used DataSift to grab tweets that mentioned the following:

  • “jenner”
  • “#callmecaitlyn
  • “@caitlyn_jenner”

We did a bunch of work to filter out irrelevant/non-English content (the Jenners are famous, yo), and reduced the content set to exactly 574,956 tweets.  Using our Semantria text analytics service we found that the sentiment towards Caitlyn Jenner was overwhelmingly positive! This was a pleasant surprise, as we usually see a pretty even split on things, with a majority being neutral. There’s lots more information, so, please read the VentureBeat piece titled “Here’s what the Twittersphere Really Thinks of the New Caitlyn Jenner” to get the lowdown.

We will be following up early next week with a more detailed analysis with pretty charts and graphs, so keep an eye out for that.
