I differ a bit on some of these fundamental definitions. They don’t affect capabilities, but anyway, I see –
Categorization: Specification of ways like items can be grouped.
Classification: Assigning an item to a category, perhaps using a taxonomy.
You can have multiple categorizations for a given corpus of documents. Seen this way, themes and concepts, whether discovered or predetermined, are just ways of categorizing.
